Ocean 2015 - Graphical User Interface
Ocean 2015 beta is available for testing and pre-purchase. This major upgrade is packed with a lot of new features and improvements

Stay tuned!

New features will be presented this summer in a weekly “feature higlight” update. In the meantime, you may discover them by downloading the latest version

Feature highlight : Graphical User Interface

Dark theme

The graphical user interface has been fully revamped to a new dark theme. This provides better observation conditions when looking at rendered images, decreasing glare, eye distraction and strain, especially when working in color-proofing conditions in a dark room.

Ocean 2015 features a new XML Copy/Paste mechanism

New mechanism for copying node to and from XML

Full node copy/paste via XML

When editing Ocean objects, each sub-node can now be individually copied and pasted to a node of the same class. For instance, you may copy-paste a complex interface law between two materials.

But what is really unique, is that everything is done through XML encoding and decoding. This means, that you can copy a node in Ocean and paste it as XML code in a text editor. Reversely, you can copy XML code from a text editor or a spreadsheet program, and paste it directly in Ocean.

For instance, you may create an Excel template which generates an Ocean material in a worksheet from proprietary measured spectral data. Then just copy and paste the generated XML material in Ocean.

Ocean now also allows dragging and dropping materials and media on a similar node in object editing mode. The destination node is then automatically converted to a linked type, with its target set to the source object.

The new simulation job queue in Ocean 2015

Job control

Ocean 2014 could batch process multiple simulations on the command line. This is now fully implemented in the graphical user interface, via the new Job Control toolbox. Jobs are added either by dropping ocxml file in the toolbox, or by clicking on the “+” button to enqueue the current edited scene. This last feature allows testing multiple variations of a single scene without saving individual scenes to disk.
