Objects toolbox

Objects toolbox screenshot

This toolbox gives access to the scene objects. Each object is displayed by its name and a type icon.

Some objects names are in bold : this means they have been modified since the scene was opened.

Object types

Each object is displayed by its name and a type icon:

Renaming an object

To rename an object, select it first, then click on its name. This opens an editor. Two objects of the same kind (e.g materials) cannot have the same name.

Editing an object

Double clicking on an object opens it in a new object tree editor tab in the main window. You may also right click on the object, and click Edit Edit

Reverting an object to its original state

If an object was modified since the scene was loaded or saved, its name appears in bold. Right-clicking on it and selecting Undo Revert to original undoes all changes.

Selecting multiple objects

Select a first object by clicking on it, then use ctrl-click to select other objects, and shift-click to select an object range.

Deleting objects

First select one or several objects, then either:

  • Click on the Delete button
  • Press “Del” on the keyboard
  • Right click on the selection, then choose Delete Delete object

Copy and paste

Objects can be copied to the clipboard, using right-click and Copy Copy.

They may be pasted:

  • To the object editor, on a node of the same kind (material, environment...)
  • To any text editor, as the Ocean XML code for this node

Alternatively, the Copy Copy Link action does not copy the object itself, but a linked object pointing to it.

Duplicating objects

First select one or several objects, then right click on the selection and choose Copy Duplicate

Exporting objects

First select one or several objects, then click on the Save button. You may also right click on the selection and choose Save Export. Objects can be exported to several Ocean file formats

Importing objects

Importing objects is not done through the Object list toolbox, but with the File > Import Import menu. You can choose to selectively import an object type only, or all objects from a file.

Creating new objects

Click on one of the object type buttons on the top of the toolbox to create a new object:
